Ceiba insignis (Kunth) P.E.Gibbs & Semir

It grows a swollen bottle-shaped trunk that is well armed with hard conical spines up to 2.5 cm in diameter. Usually towards the end of the wet season, large white or yellowish flowers are produced in great profusion.
