Origin and Habitat: Distristributio unknown.
Description: Mesembryanthemum tetrasepalum is a prostrate to ascending succulent plant, suffruticose and much branched. This plant is known only in cultivation and shows a similarity with Aptenia cordifolia. M. tetrasepalum is probably one of the many hybrid forms of the latter species.
Leaves: Decussate, petiolate, flat, spatulately lanceolate and acute, bladder cells small.
Flowers: Calix usually 4-, rarely 5-lobed, petals pink.
