Description: This plant bearing velvety tubers is not a cactus but a species of the genus Cacalia of the Asteraceae (Composite), daisy family.
It belongs to the section Senecioncae, which includes Arnica, Tussilago, and other medicinal plants and is
endemic in the neighborhood of Xochimileo, in the valley of Mexico.
