Description: The Echinofossulocactus sp. LAU 1564 is a solitary plant, up to 20 cm tall, 10 cm wide with very large and decorative areoles.
Stem: Spherical, flattened, the ribs are numerous (up to 50 or more) thin, with very undulated or curled ridges.
Areoles: Very large and showy filled with white wool.
Radial spines: There are about 4 bristle-like, silky, almost transparent radial spines pointing downward, 1-2 cm. long, whitish to cream-colored and partially erect; may be missing from upper areoles.
Central spines: 3 to 4 much longer, and usually pastel to tan coloured, they are straight except for the uppermost one, which may reach 2-3 cm of length, flat, and often curved upwards.

Watering should be curtailed during the winter months. Full sun but is tolerant and prefers light shade during the hot Summer months. And provide very good ventilation.
